About Us

Top Flight Kids Learning Center is inspired by the classrooms found in Reggio Emilia, Italy. These model classrooms allow the teacher to observe children at play and extend their natural curiosity in a learning environment, which is designed to be an extension of the home. At Top Flight Kids, we nurture each child to become a life-long learner by focusing on the processes of education.

The teachers at Top Flight structure the learning environment to foster creativity, competence and exploration. The curriculum is based on the children’s interests and developmental needs. The learning environment is designed to encourage exploration in the following areas: literacy, science, math and manipulatives, art, music, sensory, movement, dramatic play, and outdoor play. The children are encouraged to learn by doing things themselves in a fun, safe and challenging environment.

The school day is structured around a schedule that meets the needs of the children. The teachers provide time for free play, large group instruction and small group project work. Each classroom goes outside for an hour in the morning and in the afternoon. The children participate in family style dining during meal times. We serve breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. All the meals are cooked onsite and a new menu is posted each month.

The children’s progress is documented with work samples, photos, observations, developmental checklists, and an individual portfolio. Parents receive written progress reports twice a year and have the opportunity to conference with teachers twice a year. All of the students leaving for Kindergarten are well prepared and ready for more learning!
